Dinner and a Club Under One Roof: A Night at Maddox, Mayfair

The hardest part of a big Mayfair night isn't choosing the restaurant or the club. It's the bit in between: settling the bill, finding cabs for ten people, and queueing at a door at midnight while the momentum drains away. Maddox solves that by putting everything at one address. On Mill Street, a couple of minutes from Regent Street, there's an Italian restaurant, a downstairs club and a terrace, and the night moves between them without anyone needing a coat.

The venue

Maddox was established in 2007, which makes it one of the longer-running names in Mayfair nightlife. It's boutique rather than cavernous: the club is built for a dressed-up, international crowd rather than a mass of people, and the door is selective. The full address is 3-5 Mill Street, London W1S 2AU, just off Regent Street and Conduit Street.

Start with dinner

Booking the restaurant first solves the transition. You eat, you're already inside, and when the club gets going you move downstairs rather than out into the street. It's the easy plan for birthdays, celebrations and client nights: one booking, one dress code, one place to meet, and no one gets lost between venues. If part of your group is only coming for the club, they can meet you there later in the evening.

Move to the club

Downstairs runs two rooms with two moods, with resident and guest DJs rotating through the night:

• One room for commercial, R&B and hip-hop: the singalong, hands-up side of the night.
• One room for house and tech house: for the part of the group that wants to dance rather than sing.

That split is why Maddox works for mixed groups: nobody has to compromise on the music, and the table is the base you all come back to. The terrace gives you somewhere to step out and talk between sets.

Table or guest list?

Maddox is the one club we book where you can choose. A VIP table gets you reserved seating, a dedicated host, bottle service and priority entry, and it's the reliable way through the door for a group, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Guest list is the lighter option and works best for smaller, mixed groups; it gets your names on the door list, but a table is what makes entry certain. If in doubt, tell us your group and we'll tell you honestly which makes sense for your night.

Dress code

Elegant, chic and sexy, and it applies from the moment you sit down to dinner. Avoid sportswear, trainers, shorts, caps and ripped clothing. Everyone needs valid physical photo ID, a passport or UK driving licence, and the venue reserves the right of admission.

Getting there

Oxford Circus (Central, Bakerloo and Victoria lines) and Bond Street (Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines) are both a short walk. Parking in Mayfair is impractical and expensive at night, so take the Tube in and a black cab or ride-hailing app home.
